Karate Instructor Inspires Harlem Youth

The streets of Harlem can sometimes be a tough place for kids to grow up, but in recent years, community programs have been popping up to help with this problem. Jennifer Austin takes a look at one Harlem resident who is teaching valuable life lessons—through karate.

    Karate is a Art anyone can learn at any age. It teaches you how to respect yourself, others and Discipline.

    I practiced Tae Kwon Do in Jr College,and CSUS at Sacramentno. I also participated in tournaments, which I placed in 1st and 3rd place.
    Soon I encouraged my siblings to enroll.

    We tried different Oriental Foods and watched Bruce Lee Movies. Went on a lot of field trips, and at 17 saw snow for the first time.
