Many Liberians in New York came to escape the civil war back home. But since its end, some have been facing deportation, threatening to tear families apart. Sia Nyorkor reports on the reality of their temporary status in the US, even in the wake of a presidential reprieve.

    This is reality for some Liberians. Hope there is a path towards citizenship for them. Liberians are tax payers, lawful citizens, educated, professionals, home owners

    Thank you for bringing to light what Liberians registered under the DED/TPS immigration status are experiencing. Almost 20 now since the
    civil war, and Liberians who have resided in the United States of America lawfully have not yet been granted permanent resident status. I pray and hope that Liberians will soon see a change in their status.
