Many Liberians in New York came to escape the civil war back home. But since its end, some have been facing deportation, threatening to tear families apart. Sia Nyorkor reports on the reality of their temporary status in the US, even in the wake of a presidential reprieve.

This is reality for some Liberians. Hope there is a path towards citizenship for them. Liberians are tax payers, lawful citizens, educated, professionals, home owners
I did not know they were doing that, thank for the information I am just glad we don’t have to go through that my heart goes out to my fellow Liberian. The article was very informative and you did an excellent job reporting it, please keep me updated.

Thank you for bringing to light what Liberians registered under the DED/TPS immigration status are experiencing. Almost 20 now since the
civil war, and Liberians who have resided in the United States of America lawfully have not yet been granted permanent resident status. I pray and hope that Liberians will soon see a change in their status.
Keep up the good work,
God bless,
Rebecca Leona Kennedy
